Natural Remedies to Thicker Healthier Hair and to Prevent Hair Loss

Preventing hair loss and growing thicker healthier hair can be done naturally. You do not need the chemicals and foams available at the drug store. To grow thicker hair and keep it for as long as possible you can do scalp massages, exercise, take vitamins, eat specialty foods and drink herbal tea. Incorporating these natural remedies will help make your hair stronger and prevent unwanted hair loss. Men and women can both benefit from these natural remedies and stay away from the unknown ingredients in chemical hair growth products.

Scalp Massage

Massaging your scalp gives you the opportunity to increase the blood flow to your scalp. You might try some natural oils like olive oil, but be careful because it will cause your hair to look greasy. Use a small amount of oil and gently massage it into your scalp for 10 to 20 minutes. Massage the areas of your scalp where you feel like the hair is thinning the most, but you can also massage the entire head. It will feel even more relaxing if you can convince a friend or spouse to do your scalp massage for you. Taking the time to relax and massage your scalp will also help you to relax and reduce how your body is reacting to stress.

Increase Circulation in Body

Exercise is the best way to increase the circulation in your body. With increased circulation your capillaries will be more oxygenated and provide a healthier growing environment for your hair. When your capillaries are restricted there is not as much oxygenated blood reaching your hair follicles, which can cause a decrease in hair growth. Aerobic activity that gets your heart rate up can include jogging, swimming, biking or any other activity where you can get your heart rate up. Do your exercises several times per week for the most effect.

Vitamins

Niacin and B-Complex vitamins are great for helping your body grow more hair and keeping your existing hair as healthy as it can be. Niacin increases the blood circulation in your body and helps force blood into the capillaries. Many people who take niacin feel a flushing in their face and extremities when they first start with the vitamin. B-complex vitamins help combat stress in your body. Taking a B vitamin helps your body cope with stress and reduces stressful effects on your body.

Anti-Inflammatory Foods

Inflammation is a primary culprit in reducing hair growth in both men and women. To reduce your body’s inflammation you will need to increase your antioxidant foods and decrease the amount of sugar you are eating. Antioxidant rich foods include spinach, kale and other deep green vegetables. There are fruits which are high in antioxidants as well such as pomegranates. It is important to also reduce the amount of sugar you are taking into your daily diet. Sugar increases inflammation throughout the body and makes it more difficult for your body to fight off illnesses.

Herbal Tea and Water

Drinking natural herbal tea is a great way to refresh your whole body. Green tea and detox teas are useful in combating the daily negative aspects that our bodies absorb. Drink your tea 2-3 times a day for several weeks in order to see and feel the best results. It is also important to increase your water intake to make sure your body is always fully hydrated. If you are dehydrated it makes growing hair more difficult and your hair can slow down its growth because of dehydration. Drinking 6-8 glasses of water each day is essential for the best circulation and overall health for your body.
