Do you wash your head wrong?

  • You use shampoo every day
  • You don’t have to wash your head too often
  • There are people who cannot stand for a whole day without washing their heads. They are afraid that their hair will become too dirty and become thinner. Thus, they choose to wash it daily with shampoo.
  • However, if you are used to shampooing every day for long periods of time, your hair will dry out.
  • Wait too long until the next wash
  • you eat the wrong foods?
  • We already know that we don’t have to shampoo our hair every day. But there are people who fall to the other extreme and wash their heads only once a week.
  • If you wash your hair too rarely, the scalp gets too dirty and you can’t clean it anymore.

Rub your scalp too hard?

Rub your scalp too hard

We all remember how our mother washed our heads when we were little. It rubbed our scalp so hard that it hurt. Sometimes, he even managed to scratch our nails.

In general, when we grow up we follow the same procedure. If that is your case, it means that you have been washing your head the whole life.

You will notice that your hair is fragile and is growing stronger. Even if you use different masks, you cannot stop hair loss.

More does not mean better. Chemicals in the composition of hygiene products harm the scalp if used in larger quantities than necessary.

You wash with too hot water

Although high temperatures are beneficial for the skin and circulation, as far as the head is concerned, things are the other way around. The hot water dries the scalp and decreases the resistance of the hair.

You must wash your head with the right products

Prepare your hair

If you use fixative, gel or hair foam, I  recommend combing before showering to remove residues from these products. This way, you can cleanse your hair a lot better, because there are no barriers that prevent you from reaching it.

Moisten your hair with warm water

Extreme temperatures dry the hair. Therefore, hot water is the best option. However, if you cannot find the right temperature, it is best to alternate between cold and hot water.

Measures the amount of shampoo used

The amount of shampoo used depends, of course, on the length of the hair:

  • Short and medium hair: use a quantity of shampoo the size of a peanut.
  • Long hair: Never use more shampoo than the size equivalent of a coin.

Rub your scalp with your fingertips

After applying the shampoo and foam, gently rub your scalp with your fingertips. If you feel that you are touching it with your fingernails, remedy the situation and use only the fingers.

Massage with circular movements. Then rinse the product and take it out again.

Use cold water for the last rinse

Cold water at the last rinse improves circulation and facilitates nutrient absorption in the hair and scalp, improving their appearance.

This way, it is no longer necessary to use so many products, because the body provides the hair with the vitamins it needs and nourishes it in depth.

Now that you have figured out how to wash your hair properly, try to take the necessary steps to fix the problem.

Step-by-step: How to wash hair

Step-by-step: How to wash hair

=> Preparation: Make sure you are using the best shampoo for your hair type and comb out any residual styling products that may be in your hair before washing.

=> Water & Shampoo: Wet your hair with lukewarm water – not hot! – so that it is thoroughly wet through. Gently squeeze out the excess. Add a dime-sized amount of shampoo to your palm: about the volume of a hazelnut should be enough for short to medium hair, but when washing long hair adjust this amount accordingly.

=> Application: Apply the shampoo directly to the roots and massage into the scalp. Pay particular attention to the area at the nape of the neck as this often gets overlooked. Once your roots are suitably covered, use the lather to gently massage the shampoo down to your hair ends.

=> Rinse: Completely rinse the product from your hair again using lukewarm water. Squeeze the hair with your hands during the rinse. You’ll know when you’re finished when the water runs clear and the hair feels “squeaky” clean.

=> Condition: For people washing long hair, curls or hair that is prone to frizziness, using conditioner can help add valuable moisture and assists with teasing out tangles. Use a quarter-sized amount and apply to the ends of the hair. Use your fingers to comb it through the tresses and gently work it up to the roots. Rinse the product out the same as with shampoo.

=> Combing: Comb hair using a wide-toothed comb or simply with your fingers. Tease tangles out gently; never try to rip through a knot.

=> Final rinse: Give your hair a final rinse with cool water. Washing hair in cold water feels exhilarating and stimulates the blood circulation, while simultaneously sealing the hair cuticle and leaving your strands extra smooth and shiny.

Using the correct techniques can make a world of difference in your hair’s health, bounce and shine-but if you’re making some common mistakes, you could be damaging your lovely locks without even realizing it.

Equipped with the right products and knowing the best way to shampoo hair will ensure top results every time. One final tip: try to only wash your hair every two to three days with a cleanser. The agents can be harsh for daily use and will serve to weaken the strands in the long run.
