Below, I’ll show you some contradictory truths, 10 paradoxes that are true in life.

  1. The more you hate a trait in someone else, the more likely you are avoiding it in yourself.

It is said that the things that bother us in others are reflections of the parts of ourselves that we deny. It is also known as projection.

Eg: A woman who is insecure about her beauty will call everyone else ugly. A man who’s insecure about his money will criticize others for theirs.

  1. People who can’t trust, can’t be trusted.

The sabotage in a relationship is made by the one who is very insecure about his life and his relationship. Actually, one way people protect themselves from getting hurt is by hurting others first. Why? It’s a paradox.

  1. The more you try to impress people, the less impressed they’ll be.

Nobody likes someone who tries very hard to impress. Act naturally and let others discover what’s so impressive about you.

  1. The more you fail, the more likely you are to succeed.

Probably, you already heard this.  Edison tried over 10,000 prototypes before getting the light bulb right. Michael Jordan got cut from his high school team. The owner of Alibaba is a billionaire but early, in his life, he was the walking definition of failure. Achievements come from improvement and improvement comes from failure. There’s no other way around.

  1. The more something scares you, the more you should probably do it.

Of course, there are exceptions like life-threatening or physically harmful activities. Besides that, we think you’ll get a true feeling of satisfaction after doing something you were afraid of.

  1. The more afraid you are of death, the less you’ll be able to enjoy life.

There is a famous quote saying “Life shrinks and expands in proportion to one’s courage.” , so live in the present, enjoy the moment. You know that at some point life will come to an end, and when that happens it’s better to have no regrets.

  1. The more you learn, the more you realize how little you know.

This may be deep but it’s true. Every time you gain a greater understanding, it creates even more questions than it answers.

  1. The less you care about others, the less you care about yourself.

Did you know that people treat other people the way they treat themselves? Try to find examples between your close ones and you will see that people who are mean to the people around them are mean to themselves.

  1. The more connected we get, the more isolated we feel.

This is a paradox very popular these days. We have phones, we have tablets, we have social media platforms and we are always in touch. Even so, studies show an increase in loneliness and depression in the developed world over the past few decades.

  1. The more you’re afraid to fail, the more likely you are to fail.

Success requires courage and there is no place for negative emotions. Why? Because negative feelings and emotions can cause negative facts. Try to stay positive in every situation and you’ll avoid failing. Don’t underestimate the power of one’s thoughts!
